leblon

Leblon quartzite formed as a result of sea level changes along the Brazilian coast. Around 1.6 billion years ago, global temperatures rose, causing glaciers to melt and sea levels to rise. As the coastline moved inland, it eroded existing stones and deposited new boron-rich sediments. These sediments led to the formation of tourmaline and dumortierite, which give Leblon quartzite its distinctive bluish-green tones. The natural forces of the sea and rivers shaped the quartzite, preserving the sedimentary features from that ancient era.
